ABOUT AKIJUL
Akijul comes from the Ateso word “akijulakin” meaning to change.
Our name is emblematic of our mission: supporting processes that foster organizational growth and effectiveness, with the ultimate goal of advancing social justice in Africa and globally. We believe that strong institutions are the backbone of social transformation, and our work is dedicated to building organizational infrastructure that can sustainably drive progressive change.
We are a mission- driven consulting firm dedicated to transforming organizational capabilities through strategy and programmatic design, strengthening governance, and institutional culture. Our team brings expertise in change management, strategic planning, impact measurement, leadership coaching, and support.
Our work spans key domains including digital rights, socio-economic development, gender equality, climate justice, Indigenous Peoples’ rights, and civil and political rights. Partnering with global and regional networks, philanthropies, international development agencies, NGOs, social enterprises, and community-based organizations.
Our approach goes beyond traditional consulting by providing nuanced, context-sensitive interventions that recognize the unique challenges of social justice organizations. Providing support to alliances and networks
Facilitating processes to develop a common vision, values and actions, as well as developing policies, guides, systems and structures for collaboration, regular information sharing and external engagement.
Facilitating convenings and/or conversations
Enabling organizations to explore ideas, identify core issues, and create plans of resolution. As well as creating safe spaces where teams can hold critical discussions, express themselves openly, and tackle issues in a clear-eyed and structured framework.
